PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION PROVIDED

Welcome

We, the Board of Directors of Madison Heights Youth Baseball Association are looking forward to a successful and exciting 2010 season.

The following information in these Guidelines is provided for the upcoming season. The Board of Directors would like to thank you for your cooperation and support of our organization.

MHYBA Website

Please visit the website for valuable information such as contact information for the Board of Directors, Rules and Regulations, By-Laws, game schedules and scores, league standings, tournament dates and much more.

The Complex

This year MHYBA will play all of its games at our complex. This facility is located on Trojan Lane next to the south end of Monelison Middle School.

Parking at the Complex

This year all parking will be in the large upper parking lot with the exception of handicap vehicles, concession cooks and umpires. These vehicles will park in the lower small parking lot. Please "DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS." If your car is parked on the grass, it will be towed at your expense. This will not be tolerated. Too many volunteers have worked very hard planting this grass to have it destroyed by negligence. We also ask you to obey the speed limit sign and DO NOT BLOCK THE ENTRANCE to the parking lots.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Amherst County Sheriff’s Department will monitor the parking lots this year on a regular basis. Anyone parked in the handicap parking spaces without handicap tags or decal will be issued a ticket. This will be paid to the County of Amherst. MHYBA will have no control over this matter. Good advice is all we can offer. DO NOT PARK IN THE HANDICAP SPACES.

Fundraiser

The Fundraiser sheet (attached sheet back page) should explain our Fundraiser. If you have questions about the Fundraiser, you can contact anyone on the committee for information. Deadline for raffle tickets to be turned in to your team mother is APRIL 10th. Please don’t turn the tickets and money in late. If you should need extra tickets, please contact a committee member.

Important Notice: No player will be issued a team jersey and hat until the fundraiser money has been turned in or paid the additional registration fee.

Practice Season

Official practice season will begin on March 22nd  and finish the week of April 19th. All teams will be scheduled two (2) practices a week. Your team manager will provide you with your MHYBA practice schedule at the parents meeting.

Opening Day and Regular Season

Opening Day will be April 24th. MHYBA will start its Opening Ceremonies at 11:45 A.M. on this day. All teams are required to participate. Players must be in uniform. Opening Day begins regular season play. Regular season should end the last week of June. You should receive your opening day and regular season game schedule around April 15th from your manager or team mother.

Rain out games or practices

MHYBA does not cancel practices because of rain. Should it rain on a practice date, you should contact your manager. MHYBA does cancel regular season games. Should it rain on game day, please call 845-5367 for a recorded message about the game. The recorded message will be put on the machine by 4:00 PM or as soon as the game is officially canceled.

Picture Schedule

Pictures will be taken opening day. Your team will be scheduled before your game time. The picture package will consist of eight (8) individual wallet size, (1) 3 1/2 x 5 individual photo, one (1) 5x7 team photo and one (1) display folder. The cost of this package will be $15.00 due upon delivery of the picture package.

Team Managers, Coaches and Team Mother

Remember these people are volunteers giving their time to help your child. Please show them the respect they deserve. These volunteers are working with information and dates given to them by MHYBA.

Insurance

MHYBA carries accident insurance on all players and volunteers. Our insurance carrier is Sadler Insurance Company. This insurance coverage is secondary. You must first file the claim with your insurance company. After your company has paid or declined then you file your claim with Sadler Insurance Company. If you have no insurance, you can file with Sadler Insurance Company as soon as you get the bills. Insurance forms will be available at the concession stand. You should report any accident that requires medical attention to your team manager as soon as possible.

Concession Stand Help

Because of a drastic decline in volunteers to work the concession stand over the last few years, the MHYBA Board of Directors voted to change the concession stand help format to a paid staff.  MHYBA depends on the profit raised from the concession stand to offset the operating cost of our program.  Anyone wishing to sign up to work in the concession stand can do so.  You will be paid for your service.

Uniforms

All Team Jerseys are to be turned into your manager at the end of regular season. The Jerseys are not yours to keep. If for any reason the jersey is not turned in, you will be billed for it. If your player participates in all-star competition, the all-star manager or team mother will inform you of the uniform obligation.

Problem Solving

Should you have a problem during the season, we request you first try to work it out with your manager. If you approach the manager in a polite manner, you probably can work out any problem. Should you not be able to work your problem out with the manager, you should contact your League Vice-President. When you contact the League Vice-President, you should be prepared to put your complaint in writing. This procedure is necessary for the League Vice-President to follow up on your complaint. He/she will then in turn contact the necessary personnel to resolve your problem.

Sportsmanship, Support and Respect

Sportsmanship, support and respect…three very important words. We ask you, as parents to encourage your child to always show good sportsmanship and for you, as adults be role models for them by showing good sportsmanship. Always support your child and his/her team but always treat the opposing team with respect. They are all children. Let them have fun.

MHYBA has a rule this year for those people who forget those three words; it is as follows:

Harassing, riding or yelling, at members of any team or its adult leaders is prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in ejection from the game for managers, coaches and players. Violation of this rule will result in ejection from MHYBA property for spectators.

 Rules

MHYBA operates by the National Rule Book for Dixie Youth and Dixie Boys/Majors. MHYBA also has a set of local league rules it operates by. The local league rules are posted on the web site.

Fall Baseball

In 2009 MHYBA started having a Fall Baseball League. Registration for this league will begin mid July.  Practice begins mid August and the season begins early September. Last year was a very successful season and we expect even better things in 2010. Watch the MHYBA website this summer for registration dates.

Annual Meeting

MHYBA will hold it’s annual meeting during the month of October, 2010 at Madison Heights Community Building located on Woody’s Lake Road. at 7:00 PM. Watch the website and Amherst newspaper for this date. At this meeting we discuss the past season in general and ideas for the upcoming season. At this meeting, we also elect Executive Officers and Board of Directors for the next season. Should anyone have a question or wish to run for a position on next years Board, you should contact a member of the Nominating Committee (Junior Cash, Eric Pierce and Darrel Gallier) at least one week prior to the meeting date. You can find out how to contact these committee members on the website.

 Presidents Closing Note

I look forward to working with you this upcoming 2010 season. I thank you for your support and I appreciate your cooperation, not only with myself but with all the volunteers of our organization. This program does not belong to me, the Board of Directors, the managers, coaches, team moms or even you; it belongs to the children who participate. "We work for them." I ask you before you react to a situation that you don’t agree with or understand, to ask yourself, am I willing to volunteer my time to do a better job. Everyone is doing the best that they can to provide the best for the players. Let us all work together. When called upon to volunteer, if any way possible, please do so. MHYBA is only as strong as its volunteers. Remember, there are no paid employees in Dixie Youth Baseball.

Sincerely,

Ronnie Adams

President, MHYBA
